Susan G. Komen for the Cure
2009 Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure® a Huge Success!

The Salt Lake City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® extends a heartfelt thank you to over 17,400 participants who made our 13th Annual Komen SLC Race for the Cure a huge success raising over $760,000!  The top individual fundraiser was Dusty Silvester, who in only a month was able to obtain $6,600 in donations on behalf of his Mom, Margo, a recently diagnosed breast cancer survivor.  The top fundraising team, bringing in close to $10,000, was the Bodacious Ta-Tas, raising funds and walking in memory of Bonnie Schlotterbeck.  What commitment and passion they exuded in their efforts!

Up to 75% of all money raised from our Race will stay in our community to fund lifesaving awareness, screening and treatment programs.  The remaining 25% helps to fund the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Research Grants Program.  The purpose of these funds is to help us fulfill our promise to end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.  Again, thank you to all who participated in this inspiring event.  We especially would like to thank our volunteers and committee, without whom none of this would be possible.
