A chance to help out one of our own!
Hey everyone! I know that this isn't the place for solicitation, but when it comes to one of our own members I will always do anything to help them out.

It's that time of the year again! It's our 6th Annual Celebration of Life Dinner! This year the dinner will be held in the Wasatch Room of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Parking will be validated for this evening. As of right now, survivors will be able to attend the event for free thanks to Dr. June Chen. Survivors may bring one guest with them and the current price for that guest is $24.00. I am working on getting additional funding to reduce and/or make that cost as close to free as possible; I will keep you all updated on that. If you are interested in attending this dinner please go to the following link to reserve your spot. As of right now I have 81 spots remaining!
The American Cancer Society will be conducting the Cancer Prevention Study-3 during the month of November. Cancer survivors themselves can not participate but this is open to any person who has NOT had cancer. The goal is to monitor the lifestyle of someone who hasn't had cancer to see what may be different between a cancer patient and non-cancer patient. This study is a two-part survey: one part will be at a specified location to sign consent forms and give a small blood sample. The other part will be conducted through the mail and the participant will just be taking some lifestyle surveys. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone that wants to help find a cure! Check out the attached information and, if someone you know is interested, please email Jennifer Garza at youngsurvivorsisters@gmail.com
I wanted to take a moment to share with everyone an event that another Utah breast cancer support group (Lifting Hearts) is doing. They are hosting a 5k race at Heritage Park in Cedar Hills, UT to raise funds for their support group. Kara, the President of Lifting Hearts, has told me that survivors can run for FREE in this race! Walgreens will be there doing flu shots and in addition food and goods vendors will be there making this a nice family event. If anyone is interested in participating in this you need to register at: http://www.wedidbreastcancer.com (Even if you're a survivor you still need to register for the event.)
Here is some information on two different golf tournaments coming up that will directly impact the Young Survivor Sisters! The first one is called Protect The Pink and will take place this Friday, September 7th at Thanksgiving Point. The second golf tournament, taking place on September 14th at River Oaks, is called the Feel 'Em Up Cup. Both golf tournaments are providing our girls with the chance to apply for a monetary gift that will help ease the burden of cancer expenses.
