4th Annual YSS Family Swimming Party this Saturday

I just wanted to remind everyone that this Saturday is the 4th Annual Young Survivor Sisters Family Swimming Party. My neighbor has offered the use of her pool again this year.

Saturday, July 30, 2011
1 to 3 p.m.
Roy, Utah

This is a family party so bring your spouse or significant other & kids or come by yourself if you prefer. It is a potluck so bring something to munch on. Come swim or just hang out and talk. The pool has a diving board and a slide. We have had a lot of fun at the past swim parties so we would love to have everyone join us this year. I will set up a shade for those who may not be feeling very well and who just want to relax and talk.

If you can please RSVP to me, Candace at 801-732-2707 or email me directly at candytatton@yahoo.com. It would help me to know if anyone is coming or possibly coming. If you forget to RSVP still come anyway. My cell phone is 801-628-8091 if you need directions on the day of the event. I hope to see a lot of you there.

Candace

Fitness Problems

Hello there, it's Jennifer Garza. I have been wanting to write a blog entry that dealt with fitness for some time now. In my journey, I have had a hard time, both physically and emotionally dealing with my weakened and fatigued body. I am still going through chemotherapy and will be having my first breast surgery this coming Tuesday - yikes! I have tried to get back into the gym and work out...but my workouts aren't the same as I remember them. Running is difficult, my muscles are weak so lifting is challenging, it's just all become such a stressful mess, especially when all I can focus on is how well I USED to be able to do these things. As for our diets, ha! For many weeks I was too sick to eat and had to rely on a can of ensure and some crackers every day. Other days when I was pumped full of steroids to avoid nausea all that I could do was eat! Needless to say I have gained some weight through all of this but I am not sure how to get myself back to healthy again. So here is my question to open up a discussion between us all: "How are you dealing with the physical changes of your body, and how are you making improvements to get "back" to healthy again?"

This evening our Past President Candace Tatton sent out an email talking about a fitness class that helps to transform our mind and body and should be a 2-3 hour class taught by Marci Lock. ( http://marcilock.com/) I know that there are other women out there like myself that are looking for some help putting the broken pieces back together that cancer leaves us with and it sounds like this will be a very good opportunity for that. So check out her website and make sure to email Candace at candytatton@yahoo.com

Make sure to read Candace's email and then respond to her with if you can go and what day would work best for you. The event is being scheduled for sometime in September or October and the class would be 2-3 hours in length.

Stay Strong, Fight Stronger, Ladies!!
